INTEK M110 REVIEW

More Intek Reviews

Introduction

Intek have only been in the CB radio game a few years now, however most of their radios are manufactured in the old Midland CB factory which says alot about the quality. This little mobile rig is the cheapest in their range. It is very compact and simple to use, however the advantage of this rig in comparison to many other basic cb's is that you can access the European channels (MultiStandard), so it is legal to use it across Europe(with appropriate licence).

Specifications

Channels: 10 Bands including UK, EU and Poland. AM and FM.

Features: (from left to right) AM/FM (EU/UK) switch, Channel 9/19 switch, volume and squelch rotary controls and Up & Down buttons. The rest of the display is conventional with a bright green LED channel display and illuminated TX/RX led's. Also the radio does not go back to channel 9 every time you remove the power (great feature).

The back of the rig has the 12 Volt DC power lead, Extension speaker socket and SO239 antenna socket.

The set comes complete with a good sized, standard Intek Microphone without the Up & Down Channel buttons (which I prefer). It plugs into a 4 pin socket(uniden wired) on the front panel. Also included is an Operator's Manual, power lead, mounting bracket and side screws.

Performance

Receive: Plenty of volume for a small radio, in fact the volume control never really needs to be above half way. Sensitivity is good too. Squelch is very precise, on my radio squelch control only needs to be set to about 10 o'clock to cancel out all noise.

Transmit: Plenty of volume on transmit too, deviation easily hits 2khz and microphone is sensitive without being over the top. Power is set to exactly 4 watts.

Build Quality: Typical good Intek build quality, radio feels solid and has no extra gimmicks to go wrong or fall off!

Recommendations

The Intek M110 is a top end basic rig. It's simple and easy to use. There are no gimmicks or anything to make things complicated, no Up/Down on the mic, no scan, no dual watch, etc. It has that solid Intek build quality which means you're unlikely to have any problems with this rig.

If you're looking for a simple, no nonsense rig that will fit into almost any space without any trouble, then the Intek M110 is probably the radio for you.
