TEAM ME-4 REVIEW

Introduction

Team have been in the CB radio game for quite a few years now and have produced a few different CB radios, some good, some not so good. However this little low-cost mobile rig seems to have quite alot to say for the low price tag. It is very compact and simple to use, however the advantage of this rig in comparison to many other basic cb's is that it has some features you would expect to get on higher priced rigs, such as Auto-Squelch and Dual Watch.

Specifications

Channels: 40 UK and 40 EU, FM only.

Features: (from left to right) MD (EU/UK) button, Scan button, Dual Watch button, Channel 9 button, volume and squelch rotary controls, Channel rotary control. The rest of the display is conventional with a bright Blue LED channel display and illuminated TX/RX and function led's.

The back of the rig has the 12 Volt DC power lead, Extension speaker socket and SO239 antenna socket.

The Team ME 4 comes complete with a nice sized, standard Team Microphone with Up & Down Channel buttons on the front. It plugs into a 6 pin socket(P6 wired) on the front panel. Also included is an Operator's Manual, power lead, mounting bracket and side screws.

Performance

Receive: Plenty of volume for a small radio, quite a nice beefy sound for such a small unit. Sensitivity is not bad too. Squelch is average, on my radio squelch control needs to be set to about half-way to cancel out all noise, but it does have the Auto-squelch which seems to do the trick.

Transmit: Plenty of volume on transmit too, deviation easily hits 2khz and microphone is pretty sensitive without being over the top. Power is set to exactly 4 watts.

Build Quality: Not quite the same quality as an Intek or President but never the less not bad considering the price.

Recommendations

The Team ME-4 is a good value rig with a few surprising features such as scan and Auto-Squelch. It's simple and easy to use too.

If you're looking for a simple to use, UK/EU only rig, with a few features then the Team ME-4 will be hard to beat for the price.
